What's Up Down Under Adventure - Day 4
Day 4 Blog
Location: Katherine - Broome, NT
Early start today as we are packing up and leaving Katherine and heading towards the Gibb River Road. After we are all packed, we hit the road, and make our first stop at the Katherine Hot Springs. Another amazing place and crystal-clear water with many spots to have a swim and soak! Many of the team enjoy a swim and great café there as well with some very nice snacks too!!
Once everyone has finished, we hit the road again and the convoy is on the move. I get to travel with Jude from now on in the Red Center Ford Ranger campervan, which is very nice. It’s another very warm day, but the air con in the Ranger keeps us very cool indeed. We travel about 300kms still on the bitumen and stop regularly for filming the convoy on the road, which does look very impressive.
Roads are good and most parts have a 130kmph limit and the convoy travel comfortably at 100-110kmph Late afternoon we stop at one of Macca’s favourite free camp spots surrounded by beautiful Boab trees. I have seen these before and they are just awesome and look prehistoric.
We set up the vans and the swags and then relax with another great feed and enjoy the stars which was just great. This is my first experience of free camping and loved it. Having the place to yourself, being able to have a fire and sit under the stars, was just perfect.
