What's Up Down Under Adventure: Day 10
Day 10 Blog
Location: Gibb River, WA
No casualties which is great. We do stop frequently, and Dean does a quick visual inspection of all the cars and vans each time, always checking to spot anything going wrong early, which is great and something you need to do. Also, the vibrations from the corrugations can be very tiring, so it is important to stop, have a quick break, stretch the legs etc. We arrive at the Gibb River around lunch time and find a good free camp spot to set up camp. After a quick set up and some lunch, the rest of the afternoon is spent relaxing, and everyone enjoys a swim in the river. The river is shallow in parts, so a few set their camp chairs in the river and enjoy the cool breeze. Other parts are deeper so you can enjoy a good swim. There is a lovely little waterfall, and I sit on the rocks with the water running over me, which is just awesome!
All fresh water here, so no concerns about salties. Again, no coverage so touching base with work on the ZOLEO Global Satellite Communicator and call home on the Iridium GO! exec, which both perform faultlessly. You definitely have to have some sort of satellite-based device when you travel remote as you can’t rely on the mobile network in case something goes wrong and its nice being able to touch base with family and friends. Dinner, Macca's meeting, and tomorrow we leave again, and we head for Mt Barnett station, which is where we will explore Manning Gorge. Very excited to see the gorge!!
